This is a script I put together to copy a file.

Simple right? Not exactly. I needed confirmation that it suceeded sent to an email address and a log file detailing if the copy was successful or failed and the reason why.

Given the ultra cheap price of storage these days, I thought I'd start working on a external drive array. After seeing the price of most four bay external drive housings, I decided to build my own in true Do It Yourself (DIY) fashion.

SLARP - Share Listener And Reporter Program

This is a script I nicknamed SLARP - Share Listener And Reporter Program. It should run on just about any Windows server, but I've only tested it to run on Windows 2003.

My company needed a quick and dirty way to be notified if any changes occurred to the shares on a specific Windows 2003 server. Auditing was turned on, but we needed to be notified to at least look at the logs within a certain time frame.

The Three Letters

When I was hired to run the IT department of a major company my predecessor left three letters in the desk that was now mine. Each letter was clearly labeled; System Failure #1, System Failure #2, System Failure #3. A post-it note was attached to the bundle of letters.

In case of a substantial system failure open the letters in order, once per failure, and they will help you through the problem.
